What is SRE UI Policy Case Competition?
PCC is a Greater Jakarta-based competition involving policy case analysis in transition energy. PCC aims to increase participants’ awareness in the renewable energy sector along with knowledge and enhance their analytical skills to solve real-world policy challenges with comprehensive analysis and solutions. PCC consists of Preliminary stage, Final stage, and Workshop. The expected output from PCC is a proposal regarding policy case analysis as well as the presentation. PCC also will hold a workshop for enhancing the public’s understanding about energy transition policy in the Greater Jakarta area. The workshop features professional speakers from the government and scholars.
What is
NEX STEP XCHANGE
The NEX STEP XChange is a youth engagement program aimed at providing a platform for young people to actively participate and contribute to policy development promoting energy transition in Indonesia. Collaborating with the Society of Renewable Energy (SRE) UI, New Energy Nexus Indonesia empowers local youth to actively and contribute to policy development supporting the energy transition in DKI Jakarta Province. This collaborative effort involves the Policy Case Competition Policy Workshop.
Background
The Greater Jakarta area, a bustling metropolis housing millions, faces a critical juncture in its energy landscape. While powering the engine of Indonesia’s economic growth, the region grapples with the growing challenges of traditional energy sources. Concerns about environmental sustainability, climate change, and energy security demand a shift towards cleaner, more sustainable alternatives.
This is where the concept of transition energy comes into play. It signifies the ongoing transformation of our energy systems from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources like solar, wind, geothermal, and hydropower. Embracing this transition is crucial for ensuring a sustainable future for Greater Jakarta.
However, navigating this transition requires overcoming various policy and implementation challenges. These include:
